Astronomically (as per Vedic Astrology), Rahu and Ketu denote the two points of intersection of the paths of the Sun and the Moon as they move around the celestial sphere. Therefore, Rahu and Ketu are respectively called the north and the south lunar nodes. The fact that eclipses occur when Sun and Moon are at one of these points gives rise to the myth of the swallowing of the Sun.

The Rahu moves from Leo to Cancer and Ketu moves from Aquarius to Capricorn. In 2017, Rahu enters Cancer and Ketu enters Capricorn on August 17, 2017.

The nodal planets Rahu and Ketu, measured inauspicious can powerfully persuade and affect the houses they dwell in. Though they do not have objective survival like other planets, these influential entities indicate the past life karma and how will you be experiencing the same in the present life.

Rahu is generates good interest in worldly wise comfort and worldly benefits like wealth and luxuries; while Ketu created a strong spiritual penchant and also leads one to the path of enlightenment.

On August 17th, 2017,  Rahu will transit to the sign Cancer ruled by the Moon, while Ketu will transit to the sign Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. Rahu will be transiting in the stars Ashlesha, Pushya and Punarvasu. Ketu will be transiting the stars Dhanista, Shravana and Uttrashada.

During their stay of 18 months, these nodal planets could bring mixed result as Ketu will be transiting in the distant planets’ stars Shravana and Uttarashada ruled by the leading light. On the other hand Rahu will be transiting in the friendly planets’ stars Ashelsha and Pushya ruled by Mercury and Saturn respectively.

On the whole, this transit brings good results with respect to prosperity and amplify in domestic comfort, spiritual development and career opportunities. Also, over indulgence in addiction towards worldly pleasures and illusionary thoughts could make people overconfident.
